We have heard about the power of positive thinking everywhere.
Do you believe it?
I believe it! I have bought into this idea wholeheartedly. I have put it into practice and have reaped the benefits physically, mentally and spiritually.
The idea is simple really. It takes a little practice for it to become your go-to strategy for coping with life but I encourage you to give it a try.
These two very simple steps can help you get started.
1. Stop and acknowledge
Whenever a negative feeling emerges whether it be sadness, anger, frustration, defeatism, jealousy, fear etc. You need to STOP ✋🏼. Once you have stopped, you must acknowledge what you are feeling.
“I am angry because ….” or sad or scared or whatever, you get the idea.
Once you have acknowledged what you feel and why, you are ready for the second step.
2. Reach for a better thought
So you know what brought you to this negative state now imagine what can bring you out of it. Reach for any thought that makes you feel better. It can literally be anything.
“Feeling angry is not good for me. I don’t need this in my life. I am better than this. Things will work out. I am strong. I am blessed. I have a great deal to be thankful for” or whatever combination of ideas that work to raise you out of the negative.
That’s it. That’s all. Reach for the thought that makes you feel better in the moment. This process in and of itself is enough to create a shift in your current experience. Doing this consistently every time will begin to change your life.
